Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Jon and Zach Lipp grew up doing everything together and so it only seems fitting that the twin brothers from Fargo will be graduating from college within days of each other.
In the same town, different campuses but in addition to studying for finals, they are both working on speeches.
They will each take the stage twice on graduation day.
“That is absolutely fantastic.”
This has to be a first, twin brothers Zach and Jon.
One is a Bison and One a cobber.
Both selected as Commencement Speakers at their respective college graduations, Zach at Concordia and Jon at NDSU.
“Really cool, really exciting,” said Zach.
“Definitely a huge honor and especially someone I have shared my whole life with,” said Jon.
You couldn't find two smarter, kinder kids: together since day one and bout to go on their separate ways.
Zach was selected to speak at Concordia, and then Jon heard he was going to get the nod. Seems nothing changes.
“It is funny because he was born first and for him to find out a little before me seemed fitting,” said Jon.
Fortunately, graduation at NDSU is two weeks after Concordia’s, meaning parents and grandparents can attend both and the brothers can listen to each other's speeches.
The young men are humbled about the honor, and are quick to credit two others.
“Huge for the family I think it is a strong endorsement for the parents, I think it is really funny,” said Zach.
“Just to echo what Zach said, it really speaks to our parents and the drive they instilled in us. It has been cool to see them beam about this,” said Jon.
For now, the two will compare notes, preparing for their big days on stage.
“Glanced over his speech already and he doesn't know yet but I am going to bounce ideas off him,” said Zach.
A chance to say thanks, inspire others before heading out to the real world.
Concordia will have commencement this coming Sunday.
NDSU will have its ceremony on Saturday, May 14th.
