Dear Classes of 1965, 1970 and 1976:

This is a Deacon Alert to inform you of the passing of Colleen Hare on Monday, Aug. 8th.

Colleen was the mother of Dave Hare ('65), Dan Hare* ('70) and Mitch Hare* ('76).

Colleen (Coey) Hare, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Fargo, ND on August 8th, 2016 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Fargo, ND on May 29th, 1924. Preceded in death by parents Manly and Kathryn (Collins) Wallum and sister Donna Schwinden (Albert “Bud” Schwinden).

Colleen was raised in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1942. After high school, she worked in various dress shops-mainly Stevensons and Arlans. Her high school potluck friends remained in contact as they grew older.

She met the love of her life, John William Hare, a pilot in the Army Air Corps and they were married on February 7th, 1945 at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Colleen was a voracious reader throughout her life and loved to solve crossword puzzles. She always found time to stay up late and play board games with the family.

She knitted relentlessly – mittens and stocking caps when the kids were young and treasured afghans that keep us warm to this day.

Colleen loved all animals, mainly her dog Heifer and cat Dexie!

She was proud to be a Charter member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

She is survived by sons Dave (Diane), Dan (Susan) and Mitch (Kris), ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren as well as a special niece Mary Kay Schwinden.

Her wit and sense of humor made us laugh every day.

Visitation service will be Friday, August 12th at 6-7:00PM with prayer service to follow at 7:00PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 1420 7th Street N, Fargo, ND.

Funeral service will be Saturday August 13th 2016 at 11:00AM with visitation one hour prior at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 1420 7th Street N, Fargo, ND. Reception and burial to follow.
