Dear Classes of 1982 and 2002:

This is a Deacon Alert to inform you of the passing of Douglas Hansen on Saturday, July 30th.

Doug was the father of Daniel Hansen ('82), Thomas Hansen, Robert Hansen and Andrew Hansen* ('02).




Douglas Gary Hansen passed away surrounded by family at Sanford Health in Fargo on Saturday, July 30, 2016.

Doug was born to Hector and Mabel (Anderson) Hansen at St. John’s hospital in Fargo on Nov. 27, 1942. He attended school in Fargo, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1961. He married Delores Charbonneau in 1963 and they had four sons: Daniel, Thomas, Robert and Jerry.

Doug worked at the Fargo Forum until 1977 when he and his brother, Wesley, opened Northwest Printing in Fargo.

In 1978, Doug was united in marriage to Bonnie Henne in Fargo, and they had one son, Andrew.

Doug was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed countless hunting and fishing outings with his sons, other family and friends, and sharing their bounties at family gatherings year-round. Doug was also an ardent sports fan and lifetime backer of area youth and college teams.

Doug’s greatest joy in recent years was spending time with his grandchildren and step grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his wife Bonnie; sons Daniel, Fort Myers, FL, Thomas, Golden Valley, MN, Robert (Amanda) Hansen, West Fargo, and Andrew, Fargo; sisters Mary Lou Cote, Fargo, LaVon (Doug) Tongate, Olympia, WA, Judy McCarty, Las Vegas, NV, brother Wesley (Edie), Fargo; granddaughters Sarah and Brooklyn Hansen; step-granddaughter Madison Nelson and step-grandson Grant Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by infant son, Jerry; brother and sister-in-law Leo (Josephine) Hansen; sister and brother-in-law Marjorie (Warren) Halleen; brother and sister-in-law James (Sally) Hansen; sister Virginia (Gil) Egge; and brother-in-law Don Cote.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 4, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo, followed by a prayer service at 7:30. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, 10:30 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church in Fargo with visitation one hour before the funeral.
