Dear Classes of 1944, 1945, 1947, 1950, 1955, 1960 and 1962:

This is a Deacon Alert to inform you of the passing of Kenneth Schwinden ('55) on Wednesday, Oct. 4th.

Ken was a member of the Class of 1955, the husband of Norma (Hebert) Schwinden* ('60), and the brother of Elaine (Schwinden) Cihak ('47), Donald Schwinden ('50), Morrie Schwinden ('62), and the late Albert Schwinden ('44) and Evelyn (Schwinden) Fischer ('45).

 

Obituary:

Kenneth Schwinden, 80, Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Ken was born on May 1, 1937 to Moritz and Agnes (Kluck) Schwinden in Fargo, ND. He attended St. Mary’s Elementary and Shanley High School. He married Norma Hebert on June 6, 1964 and they raised four children: Craig, Fargo, Janet (Robert) Feil, Arvada, CO, Doug, Fargo, Jennifer (Matthew) Scott, Chandler, AZ.

Ken was very active in fastpitch softball as a player and an official. He was a bowler and very proud of the 300 game he rolled. Ken also spent many years officiating softball, baseball, football and basketball.

He was inducted into the N.D. Amateur Softball Assn. Hall of Fame in 1984. He received the same honor from the F-M Bowling Assn. Hall of Fame in 1989.

Ken is survived by his wife Norma, four children and a granddaughter, Jordan Feil. He leaves behind a sister: Elaine Cihak, Fargo, ND, a brother: Donald (Patricia), Fargo, ND, a brother: Morrie (Cathy), Fargo, ND, a brother-in-law: Vernon (Doris) Hebert and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Albert, sister: Evelyn Fischer, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo starting at 3:00 P.M. with visitation starting at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, Oct. 6th.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
