Dear Classes of 1979, 1980, 1982, 1985 and 1986:

This is a Deacon Alert to inform you of the passing of Mark Glessner ('82) on Thursday, Dec. 15th.

Mark was a member of the Class of 1982 and the brother of Mary (Glessner) Niles* ('80), Dave Glessner ('85), Matt Glessner ('86) and the late Roberta (Glessner) Johnson ('79).

Mark Lawrence Glessner, 53, of Prairie Rose, ND, passed away on December 15, 2016 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND, surrounded by friends and family.

Mark was born September 25, 1963 in Jamestown, ND to John Glessner and Beverly (Brown) Glessner.  He grew up in Fargo attending Nativity Elementary School and Shanley High School, graduating in 1982.  He also attended the University of North Dakota.

He spent his career working for Greener Plains Contracting, a company he co-founded in 1985. Additionally, he was a managing partner of Heartland Industrial Supply Company.

Mark found happiness spending time in his garage watching NASCAR, as well as being with friends and his two Black Labs, Three and Shadow.  He also loved being outdoors – fishing, golfing, hunting, snowmobiling, and water skiing at Lake Eunice. Mark was a lifetime Raiders fan – watching games each week and often traveling to California to watch his favorite team.

Mark will be remembered by his friends and family for his quick wit and sarcasm, and as someone who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

Mark is preceded in death by his father John Glessner, and sister Roberta Johnson. He is survived by his mother Bev Glessner, sister Mary (Chad) Niles, brothers Dave (Marci) and Matt (Mary) Glessner, and brother-in-law Bill Johnson. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Amy (Aaron) Kempfer and Matt Sorenson, Jeremiah (Ashley), Daniel (Aubrey), Russell, Julia and Joshua Johnson, Sophie, Lucy and John Glessner, Brendan and Jori Glessner.

Instead of a funeral, Mark’s wishes were to have a celebration of his life which will be held on Monday, December 19, at 6 pm with visitation beginning at 5 pm at Boulger Funeral Home. Mark’s wishes were to have a gathering where his friends and family could be together to share stories and fond memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in his honor to the Salvation Army.
