Dear Classes of 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1984:
This is a Deacon Alert to inform you of the passing of Terrance "Terry" Dargen ('80) on Friday, Nov. 4th.
Terry was a member of the Class of 1980 and the brother of Patty (Dargen) Petersen, Mike Dargen* ('79), Karen (Dargen) Branco* ('81) and Steve Dargen* ('84).
Terrance Joseph Dargen, of Fargo, ND, passed away on November 4, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.
Terry was born on December 4, 1961 in Aberdeen, SD to Dennis and Marie Dargen. He attended O’Gorman High School, in Sioux Falls, SD, before moving to Fargo in 1978, and finishing his HS education at Shanley Catholic High School. He earned his BS in Mass Communication from Moorhead State University. Terry married Victoria (Tori) Johnson August 16 1992, they had two children, Jameson and Kaytlin. Terry and Tori divorced in 1998, but remained close supporting each other in the raising of their two children whom he considered the “lights of his life”. He spent the majority of his adult years working in the restaurant industry. He was known for his great sense of humor, easy going personality, and giving nature. Terry was a avid reader, and long time fan of Elvis, and Bond… James Bond. He was also a big fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Terry was active in Alcoholics Anonymous, and at the time of his death, had achieved over 3 years of sobriety, before ultimately succumbing to complications of end-stage lung cancer.
Terry is survived by his children, Jameson(22) and Kaytlin(19), both of Fargo, his sisters, Patty (Todd Petersen), Sioux Falls, SD, and Karen (António Branco), Lisbon, Portugal, and his brothers, Mike (Diana) Dargen, Evergreen, Co., and Steve Dargen, Fargo, ND. His nephews, Zach, Evan, Connor, Andre, and Samuel, as well as his nieces, Melanie, Erin, and MacKenzie, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Denny (’94) and Marie (’11).
In accordance with Terry’s giving nature, he had made his wish that his body be donated to the University of North Dakota, School of Medicine. His ashes will be scattered at a later date and place, upon his children’s wishes.
Friends and relatives are invited to help celebrate Terry’s life, at 7:30 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo. Visitation will begin at 5 PM and continue until the time of the service.
